COMMUNICATION MINI COURSE

FROM 'ROOMMATES' TO

HONEYMOON PHASE

The Communication Framework for midlife married couples ready to stop feeling like roommates and reignite the spark they had on their honeymoon.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

You love each other.

You just want talking to each other to feel easier again.

Inside From “Roommates” to Honeymoon Phase, you’ll learn how to:

Speak so you’re understood,

not immediately argued with, so hard conversations can actually move you closer.

Listen to understand, not to reload,

so your spouse feels heard instead of judged, dismissed, or fixed.

Stop trying to win

the argument,

because when one person wins and the other loses, the marriage loses too.

Think before

you respond,

so you can answer thoughtfully instead of reacting automatically.

Recognize the hidden inner “Filters” that affect what you say, how you say it, and what your partner hears.

Learn and practice the step-by-step communication framework so that you can leave each conversation feeling more connected even when you’ve disagreed.

And most importantly?

You’ll practice what you’re learning so you can start having different conversations right away.

THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF...

You want to learn how to talk about the things that matter and start feeling connected again.

You’re an empty nest couple looking at each other and realizing your relationship got neglected somewhere along the way.

You spent years focused on careers, children, schedules, and responsibilities and now you feel more like roommates than romantic partners.

You’ve wondered about divorce because you don’t know how to repair what’s happened, but deep down, you still want this marriage to work.

You’ve stopped talking about important things because too many conversations turn into long, painful arguments.

You look at each other sometimes and think, “How did we get this far apart?”

You walk on eggshells because you don’t want to start another argument that goes nowhere.

Or maybe nothing is terribly “wrong”... You just know your marriage could feel closer, warmer, easier, and more like the two of you again.

WHY THIS FRAMEWORK WORKS

Early in my career as a psychologist, I worked with divorcing families.

I helped adults, teenagers, and children rebuild their lives after divorce.

And after several years of listening to their stories, I realized something that changed the direction of my career.

I didn’t want to spend my life only helping families recover from divorce.

I wanted to help couples build marriages they wanted to stay in.

So I changed my focus.

For the next 35+ years, I studied what helps couples stay connected, repair what isn’t working, and communicate in ways that bring them closer instead of farther apart.

I’ve worked with couples in more than 50,000 sessions.

And over those years, I began to see the same communication patterns again and again.

I also saw what happened when couples learned to change them.

That experience became the foundation for the framework I teach inside From “Roommates” to Honeymoon Phase.

It’s practical.

It’s step-by-step.

And it’s designed to help you take what you learn and actually use it in your marriage.

Here are comments from previous students:

We did the practice exercises and the one that was the most helpful was the “think” one that instructed us to then ‘plan’ our response. It  helped me, especially, to not quickly respond, but to think and then say what I wanted to say, after thinking.’-A&J

We hadn’t realized how we got into fights by both reacting to each other. Listening is really hard but so important, just like you taught. We’re much better at it now! Thank you!’- L&J

love alone isn't Enough.

Many people believe that if you truly love each other, communication should come naturally.

But the truth is that many couples who love each other are using the wrong communication habits.

You’ve kept trying to have good talks but the talks too often either deteriorate into fights or one person ends up leaving the conversation.

You two have built some invisible patterns that result in feeling misunderstood, unheard and frustrated.

Once you learn to communicate for connection instead of self-protection everything changes.

There will be less stress, more closeness and the conversation ends up moving the relationship forward instead of backward.

Relationships fail or thrive, gradually then suddenly, one conversation at a time.

-Susan Scott

One couple told me that for the first time in months they had a disagreement without either of them leaving the table.

They said they had paid attention to the one simple shift of listening to understand, rather than for just responding.

And they felt much more connected and close after that conversation.

Inside the From “Roommates” to the Honeymoon Phase, I’ll show you exactly how to rebuild that  connection, one conversation at a time.

Let’s be real, communication is complicated and it doesn’t take care of itself.

Couples often have the same argument over and over again.

In the early days, when I wasn’t helping my clients as much as I wanted to, in navigating these stuck places, I did a lot more research.

As I observed many couples at the moment a conversation turned into an argument, I realized the problem included interruption and responding as if the listener was being attacked instead of being given information.

The listener was hearing attack instead of hearing that their spouse was actually relating how they felt about something, without attack language or tone evident.

Then the “shifts” that were needed became clear to me.

What was missing in these couples was that they needed to listen to understand (not to defend themself).

And secondly, what I’ve called “filters”--what’s going on inside both the speaker and the listener.

These concepts and how to use them correctly is exactly what I teach inside, From “Roommates” to Honeymoon Phase– A communication Framework for married midlife couples ready to stop feeling like roommates and ignite the spark they had on their honeymoon.

When we started with your course we barely talked to each other anymore.

We were so fed up with arguing we just avoided each other.

We went through the course, even though we started off having doubts that it would help us, we listened to the videos twice and did the exercises.

We can talk to each other again!

We’re now getting along really well. We got unstuck by realizing what we’ve been doing wrong and doing it better. Thank you.!" N&J
